Eric Conn Has Hurt Social Security Disability More Than Anyone

An attorney who called himself “Mr. Social Security” is on the run from authorities after pleading guilty to defrauding Social Security of $550 million while representing Social Security disability claimants.

As a Social Security disability attorney’s office, this strikes right at the heart of how Greeman Toomey conducts honest representation of disabled workers who truly have a right to disability benefits due to medical impairments, because Conn gives all those who represent disability claimants a bad name.

Federal investigators accused Conn of bribing an Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) and medical provider in an effort to win disability claims that awarded his firm $23 million between 2005 and 2015. Conn pleaded guilty to a number of charges and was scheduled to be sentenced July 14, but Conn never planned to let that happen.

It was reported that Conn is now on the run after he was granted bail and removed an electronic monitoring device and his current whereabouts are unknown. An arrest warrant has been issued and the FBI is offering a $20,000 reward for the capture of Conn.

It is important for Conn to be found and brought to justice. His fraudulent activities not only resulted in millions of dollars of losses for the American taxpayers, but also resulted in many of his clients losing disability benefits whether they were genuinely entitled to those benefits or not.

Conn is the poster boy for those who are critical of the Social Security disability process. After Conn’s arrest, many people called on scaling back Social Security disability benefits and made claims that the majority of people who received disability benefits did not deserve them.

It is important to remember that the vast majority those who represent disabled workers and the workers themselves are trying to obtain benefits they are rightfully owed because of impairments that prevent them from working. Additionally, these disabled workers spent years paying into Social Security to be eligible for those benefits.
